New Versions of SLIDE and SETools

Tresys have released new versions of SLIDE (announcement) and SETools (announcement). The new SLIDE release (v1.2) includes a network configuration GUI, usability improvements and bugfixes, while the new version of SETools (v3.3.1) is a minor bugfix release.

HP Release Audit/MLS Certification Testsuite

HP announced the release of their Audit/MLS certification testsuite, which was used in conjunction with LTP as part of their RHEL5 CAPP/LSPP/RBACPP certification. The testsuite includes coverage of NetLabel/CIPSO, IPsec labeling, and CUPS printing.

IBM Release LSPP/EAL4 Testsuite

IBM have announced the public release of a certification testsuite for RHEL5 running with LSPP/EAL4. This is part of the Linux Test Project.

Tresys Release Razor for IBM Websphere and DB2

Tresys have announced the release of a new product, Razor, an SELinux management infrastructure for IBM’s Websphere and DB2 products. Razor was previously used in a UK government project; for details, refer to the case study.

Brickwall Available for Fedora 7

Tresys have announced the release of their Brickwall SELinux management suite for Fedora 7, with the Professional version available freely.

SETools 3.3 Released

Tresys have announced the release of version 3.3 of SETools. their policy analysis suite. This release is notable for performance improvements, and an object oriented reworking of the libsefs library in C++.

RHEL on HP Completes EAL4+ Certification

Following the recent IBM evaluation, RHEL 5 on Hewlett-Packard hardware has now also achieved certification for LSPP, RBACPP and CAPP at EAL4 augmented. Notable here is the way that these certification efforts were community-based, with the vendors working cooperatively on the same GPL codebase, sharing development efforts.

SE-PostgreSQL 1.0 Beta Released

KaiGai Kohei has announced the beta 1.0 release of SE-PostgreSQL. This project extends SELinux to the database, providing fine-grained, flexible MAC for managing information at the row and column level. Installable RPMS are available at the site for Fedora 6 and 7, as well as documentation in English and Japanese.

Reference Policy 20070629 Released

Tresys have announced the another release of Reference Policy. In this release, there are updates for Xen, Samba and many other existing modules, as well support for the unification of labeled networking policy. Several new modules have been introduced including those for the amtu and rhwo packages. Downloads available here.

RHEL on IBM completes EAL4+ evaluation

Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 5 on specified IBM hardware has now completed NIAP evaluation at EAL4 Augmented with ALC_FLR.3, against the LSPP, RBACPP and CAPP protection profiles. This is the first time that SELinux has been evaluated in this manner, and the highest EAL rating awarded to a Linux operating system.
